This class will focus on the great power and great responsibility of accompaniment for Irish traditional music. We will focus on the basics of rhythm and harmony for playing jigs, reels, hornpipes, and polkas. If you play bouzouki, DADGAD guitar, or drop D or just want to get your foot in the door to participate at your local sessions, this class will help you to start speaking the musical language of trad Irish music.
– vaccinations required (instructor is fully vaccinated)

David McKindley-Ward is a multi-instrumentalist from outside Washington DC who now lives in Baltimore. He has made a name for himself as one of the area’s top singers, and a much sought after accompanist. He regularly performs with the area’s finest traditional musicians, plays with his longtime friend and Baltimore songwriter Letitia VanSant, and records as session musician for various local bands. In 2018 he won first place in the senior tenor banjo contest, 2nd place in bouzouki accompaniment, and 3rd place in english singing at the Mid-Atlantic Fleadh in New Jersey.
