Flatpicking Guitar with Justin Heath

Saturdays, October 23, 30, November 6, 13, 12:30 – 1:30 PM

For beginner to intermediate guitarists who have a strong foundation in the basic chords and simple single note playing. Students will learn essential exercises to improve flatpicking technique and several bluegrass songs and fiddle tunes in G, C, A, and D. We will also have a chance to look at some typical bluegrass licks and learn how to use them in improvised solos. Jamming is encouraged! Ages 12 and up.

JUSTIN HEATH – Justin’s zest for music ranges across a variety of instruments, including acoustic guitar, 5-string banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and violin. His musical interests range from jazz to folk and bluegrass to flamenco, but he is currently focused predominantly on solo classical guitar and playing tango music with the Toccata Players. Justin is a passionate teacher and loves to help his students achieve their goals in music. Recognizing that people have different learning styles and different goals, he uses a customized approach for each student. His background in Kinesiology gives Justin the tools to help people find the technique that works best for their body. Justin works at the House of Musical Traditions and teaches guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele.

$100 for 4 sessions
