Intro to Tenor Banjo/Mandolin with David McKindley-Ward

Sundays, February 6, 13, 27, March 6, 11:00 – 12:00 PM EST
*no class February 20

Here you will learn the basics to develop even, relaxed rhythmic banjo/mandolin playing for jigs, reels, and hornpipes. While the techniques are not exactly the same, they are close enough that one could learn on either instrument. This class is perfect for the beginner or the intermediate player looking for new ideas to add to their tunes, just wanting to learn a few new tunes, and/or learn a bit more about ornamentation, phrasing and dynamics . We will talk about the basics from how to hold the instrument to how to increase your speed, and I’ll provide you with my top banjo albums to listen to!

– vaccinations required (instructor is fully vaccinated)
– mask protocols will be observed within the building and during the class
