Justin Heath


Justin’s zest for music ranges across a variety of instruments, including acoustic guitar, 5-string banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and violin. His musical interests range from jazz to folk and bluegrass to flamenco, but he is currently focused predominantly on solo classical guitar and playing tango music with the Toccata Players. Justin is a passionate teacher and loves to help his students achieve their goals in music. Recognizing that people have different learning styles and different goals, he uses a customized approach for each student. His background in Kinesiology gives Justin the tools to help people find the technique that works best for their body. Justin works at the House of Musical Traditions and teaches guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele.

Students will learn foundational fingerpicking accompaniment patterns, as well as how to add percussive accents, incorporate the melody of any tune, and work with jazz chords and melody. Songs for the course include Hallelujah, Imagine, Freight train, 12-bar blues, and La Vie en Rose. $100 for 4 classes

with Justin Heath Monday, January 25, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM This workshop will explore the entire guitar fingerboard using the CAGED system. This system offers a geometric understanding of the fingerboard by connecting familiar chord shapes. Learn how to master the fretboard with 5 basic chord shapes, their associated major scales, how to move those shapes, and how the shapes connect to map every note on the fretboard. $35 workshop
